Film and Photo Showcase
Altered POV
This project delves into the idea of an altered point of view. This picture is represents the altered POV of "3rd Person Mirror Photography." The faces represent how often looking into mirrors can show varying emotions shooting back at you, but behind the camera you always look the same, like a guy holding a camera. I took this approach as I wanted to make a little multiple exposure experiment and I believe this turned out quite nice.
Dark Aesthetic
This project is all about a dark aesthetic. I began this project thinking of doing a cyberpunk pyscho style image, but I started to think that a black and white style would fit it way better. I also switched it from a murder to more of a crazed suicide, someone taking their own life due to the influence of something unexplainable. This is also shown through the lack of visable facial features, the person has lost themselves. I believe it turned out nicely.
Setting
This project is all about Settings. I thought of a picture illustrating being lost in an unexplainable space, with an infinite road ahead of you, and possibly being joined by a friend. Its distinct otherworldly blue light contributes to the feeling of unexplainable space. This project was pretty quick for me, as I had the idea and immediately took the picture and got to editing the next morning. I'm super proud of how it turned out, and I love it's contrast and over saturation.
Color
This project is about storytelling through color. I took the most literal interpretation of this idea, and demonstrated the different emotions derived from different colors. This project was quite easy, and it was my first video project. I'm proud of it, even if it doesn't tell much of a story.
Blue: Cold, Concentration
Yellow: Warmth, Unease
Red: Passion, Longing
Green: Calm, Tranquil.
Mind
This project was about your mind and how you see the world. It was very much up to interpretation, so I decided to go with an idea I have had for a long time; a short movie to the song Chandelier by Will Paquin. This video is about how in the mundanity of school we often get distracted my memories of better days. I used old videos and photos taken on an early 2000s camera to represent memories, and I love how the fuzzy grain of the camera matches the messy fuzziness of our memories. It is "In my mind" as I step out of the moment to recall. I've never been more proud of a project, as this was my first video with an actual story and it turned out great.
Music
This project was about how music relates to photo/video. This was perfect timing, as the parody music video competition in Academic Seminar was happening at the same time. I double dipped and made a parody musiv video, making it as themed as possible. I went full emo, and it came out funny and slightly awesome. I am very proud how it ended up, and I can't wait to make more videos.
